


When it comes to first impressions, a little cleaning, organizing, and home preparation can pay off in a big way! Maximize your investment by knowing what improvements buyers value most.
1. A little paint can go a long way!
One of the least expensive things you can do to add value and appeal to your home
is to grab a paint brush, roller, and a gallon or two of paint and get to work! If
you’ve looked at homes online, you’ve probably seen examples of “less than desirable”
paint on the interior or exterior of a home. Whether it’s worn paint that simply
needs renewing, or color schemes that need updating, painting can be done inexpensively
and quickly, and will make your home MUCH more appealing to prospective buyers!
Take
it from me. I’ve been with buyers in homes that are badly in need of paint, and their
reactions are NOT pretty! By the way, it’s much better to choose neutral colors throughout
your home. Colors that provide continuity from room to room. Paint with light colors
to make living areas appear roomier and slightly darker colors for a cozier feel.
But stay away from drastic color changes, or overly “colorful” hues. Buyers may be
so overwhelmed by the colors on the walls...that they don’t even see the home’s layout
or other other improvements.
